If you have a loved one who is living with dementia, it can be helpful to know what life is like for them in order to best help them.

One of the most common symptoms of dementia is memory loss, especially forgetting recently learned information. The person may have trouble remembering dates or events, or may need to ask for the same information repeatedly. You may find they increasingly rely on you to remember things they used to be able to remember themselves.

Another area people with dementia might find challenging is participating in conversations. They may repeat themselves, be unable to remember what they wanted to say, or struggle to find the right words.

Completing daily tasks can become difficult for a person living with dementia. They may find it hard to remember how to get to a familiar location, struggle with balancing their cheque book, or forget the rules of a game they love.

Here at Care Visions, we have developed a programme that helps people with dementia overcome their challenges. Known as the “Five Sense Plus Dementia Care Model”, this programme stimulates the five natural human senses to stimulate the mind and maximise focus. Therapies include music therapy, art therapy and reminiscence therapy. We also help them improve their fine motor skills and problem-solving abilities.
